Attestation
NAKS Welding Procedure Attestation
Production attestation of welding and surfacing procedures
Mandatory for organizations using welding during installation, reconstruction and repair of equipment and structures at hazardous production facilities. Attestation confirms the organization’s technical capability, welders’ qualifications and the quality of welded joints. Organizations without a valid NAKS certificate are not permitted to perform such work.
Types of welding procedure attestation
- Initial — when an organization starts using a particular procedure in production for the first time
- Periodic — mandatory once every 4 years, upon expiry of the NAKS attestation certificate
- Extraordinary — assigned in accordance with the requirements of authorized persons and authorities
The welding procedure attestation certificate is valid for 4 yearsand is valid throughout the Russian Federation.
Documents required for attestation
To undergo welding procedure attestation, an organization must provide the following documents:
- Procedure documents: welding instructions, descriptions of welding procedures and welding procedure sheets
- Copies of the organization’s constitutional documents
- Completed application for attestation with all appendices
- Copies of NAKS certificates for all welders and welding production specialists
- Copy of the agreement with a nondestructive testing laboratory or a copy of the certificate confirming attestation of the laboratory performing quality control of welded joints
- Copies of attestation certificates and certificates for welding consumables
- Certificates or other documents for welding equipment
What we offer
Development of documents tailored to each organization’s welding types and methods:
- Assembly and welding procedure instruction
- Welding procedure description
- Welding and assembly procedure sheets
- Required standards
The NAKS attestation level (I, II or III) and the hazardous technical-device group are determined by the types of welding work and the facilities where the work is performed.
NAKS attestation of welders and welding production specialists
Qualification levels
| Level | Specialist |
| Level I | Welder (electric welder, gas-electric welder) |
| Level II | Foreman |
| Level III | Welding engineer / process engineer |
| Level IV | Chief welding engineer |
The attestation level does not replace the trade qualification grade, which must be assigned before a welder begins the attestation procedure. Before specialist attestation, our expert centre may offer gas-electric welder or electric welder training courses.
Welders and welding production specialists undergoing attestation at Levels I to III must specify the required welding or surfacing method.
To select the appropriate attestation program, submit an application specifying the required welding methods and the facilities where the welding work will be performed.

Attestation of welding consumables
Attestation of welding consumables is performed in accordance with the requirements of the National Welding Control Agency (NAKS) and applicable Rostechnadzor regulations. Its purpose is to confirm that the actual technological properties of the materials comply with the accompanying documentation and standards applicable to hazardous production facilities.
